CHINA
ACCUSES JAPAN OF STOKING TENSIONS.
China has accused Japan of heightening
regional tensions with rumors, that Beijing planned to declare a new air defence
zone over the South China Sea.
Rightwing forces in Japan had repeatedly
made such allegations with the intention of shifting international attention
from the plot to change Japan’s pacifist constitution. It sternly warned those
forces not to misled public opinion with rumours and play up tension for their
own selfish benefit.
Chinese air force officials have drafted
proposals for a new air defence identification zone could place the parcel
islands, claimed by the both China and Vietnam at the core. The US warned
Beijing against such a move, with the state department. It would be seen as a
provocative and unilateral act that would raise tension and call into serious
question China’s commitment to diplomatically managing territorial disputes.
