Afghanistan President warns against US troop
Some days before Afghanistan’s
President Mr. Karzai met with Indian Prime Minister and Pakistani Minister in
India and has ensured that the exit of
70000 US led NATO troops at the end of
2014 will not trigger to power of the hardline Taliban militia.
Karzai said that he will not
be intimidated into signing the pact which will allow US troops to stay in
Afghanistan after and 2014 and sets out their terms of engagement.
Mr. Karzai who is due to
stand down after elections next year,
initially endorsed the so-called Bilateral security Agreement. in this regards
Karzai had met with Indian Prime Minister but there were no immediate words on
the outcome. He also said he had put forward a wishlist of military assistance
of which he hoped Delhi could deliver it. He later said the agreement could
only be signed after the presidential election in April warning against a NATO
presence if it just meant more bombs and killings. His stance has outraged US officials and
lawmakers, who has threatened a complete pullout if Karzai does not sign by the
end of the year.
There is a high degree of
cooperation in the field of security and defence. In this regards, hundreds of
Afghan officers are to be trained in India soon and from Afghan side it is of
much greater use of military hardware in all respect.
After meeting with Indian prime
minister it was decided that India has consistently pledged to do all it can to
promote stability in Afghanistan mindful of how it is one of the main enemies
of the Taliban regime.
